Woodland Heights Public School

2025-2026 Safe and Inclusive School Planlearning triangle

Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.

Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.

The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.

Key Priorities and Goals

This year we are focusing on improving emotional safety and reducing bullying and cyberbullying.

We are doing this to address the reported bullying and cyberbullying, students indicated witnessing or experiencing teasing, exclusion, or harmful online behavior, and to foster a safer, more inclusive environment where all students feel emotionally supported and socially accepted.

Key Actions or Strategies

Implement regular classroom discussions and activities focused on empathy, inclusion, and respectful communication. (E.g. Continue with Character Education Assemblies).

  • Launch a peer mentorship and leadership program to promote positive student relationships and support. (Networking with feeder high schools to empower student leadership; focus on Indigenous support)
  • Provide staff with professional development on trauma-informed practices and responding to bullying and discrimination.

Community and Home Connections

  • Ask your child about how they feel at school and if they’ve ever seen or experienced bullying. Plan a family engagement night/afternoon around supporting your child to make healthy choices on the internet and social media.
  • Try role-playing scenarios at home to help your child practice how to respond to bullying or support a peer.
  • Check out this resource: Kids Help Phone – Bullying and Cyberbullying for tips on how to talk to your child about staying safe and being kind online
